Skiing.
In Auckland the film festival is on in July, not sure of the date though. Try & see a movie at the Civic Theatre & make sure you ask for a seat upstairs. This is a beautiful & amazing theatre, with lifelike stars on the ceiling, etc. Arrive for the movie early to check it out. References :
International Antarctic centre is a MUST when in C/Church- 5 min walk from the airport. Skiing in Queenstown. References :
You are spoilt for choice in NZ that’s for sure. I spent half my life there and been there done that on most things. Since I lived in the south island (which is better anyhow) I’ll give you some ideas’.
Regions are described as::
Marlborough – "the wine and food capital of the country"
Nelson/Golden Bay – "hops and crops and crafts"
Canterbury – "Christchurch . . . a garden city more English than England
The West Coast – "a heritage of mining shapes the land and the people"
Mount Cook to Wanaka – "magnificent mountains and picture-perfect lake, winter sports and the worlds most beautiful fighting machines"
Queenstown and Central Otago – "the adventure centre of the Pacific"
Dunedin – "The Antipodean Edinburgh "
Fiordland "a raw, elemental, awe-inspiring landscape"
Southland – "of oysters, tuataras, bootleg hooch . . . and solitude"
